July 2021, part 2

In the second part of July, we went on a trip of our own. It was time for the Snow family reunion, so we headed for Utah. It was a long car trip - about three days. The kids are great travelers, and we had a good time and played lots of Mad Libs. We stayed one night in Austintown OH, one in Lincoln NE, and arrived at Neal's parents' house on the third evening.

We stayed with Neal's folks for a few days. Gawain was trying to trap a feral cat and her kittens, but all he got was one of the little ones. Kyra wanted desperately to tame it, but it was old enough for that to be difficult, and we only had a few days. Gawain ended up releasing it to be with its mother again.

We visited Civ's Gaming Citadel, the hobby/gaming store owned by our brother-in-law, Aaron. It's really unique. There are things to buy, but it's also a place to gather and play games (video games, role-playing games, board games, VR). Grant and Kyra want to live there.

James came with Grant and me to the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum. They both love dinosaurs, so it was a wonderful afternoon.

There was a rainstorm, which was much needed. Utah's drought has become a mega-drought. Everyone cheered and danced when the rain started.

We went back to Civ's Gaming Citadel for Brenden's 18th birthday party. It was a much bigger group this time, with the whole family (at least, everyone in town) coming to join the celebration.

Elena and Brenden both received their mission calls while we were there. We were able to attend Elena's in person, but had to watch Brenden's on Facebook Live. Elena will be going to Hawaii, and Brenden will be going to Arizona.

We went with Gawain to drive some cows up to the cabin in a trailer. He made us lunch while we were all out finding rocks and other treasures.

When Grandma Gardner passed away, she left some fabric that Addie brought home for the grandkids and great-grandkids. She sewed this piece into a decorative pillowcase for Kyra.

We visited Robbie's house, and Robbie's horses. She spends a lot of time working with them, making sure they're healthy and well-trained.

Kimberly and Jake arrived, and we got to meet Vera for the first time. She's almost one, and she's a pretty happy baby. Grant especially loved hanging out with her.

And here are some random pictures from our days in Jensen, including gardening, making beignets, and just hanging out.

This year's family reunion was held at Snow Meadows, a property Neal's parents bought since the last time we were here. They've constructed a bunkhouse on it, and it's a terrific place. It's right next to a canal, which is just deep enough to float down, but shallow enough to stand in. It has an outhouse that was built-----. There were areas to hike nearby, and a fish hatchery to visit. I have a lot of photos here, and I'm not going to try to put them in any kind of order. There was good food, good conversation, games, swimming, skits, and lots of volleyball. (There was also dancing, but it was at night and my pictures aren't very good.) We had a fabulous time.
